L-homophenylalanine
(called LHPA for short) is a chiral unnatural a-amino acid. It
is widely used in the synthesis of pharmaceuticals and
pesticides.
It is an important intermediate for the
synthesis of ACE-inhibitors (angiotension-converting enzyme
inhibitors) such as Lisinopril to treat hypertension (high blood
pressure and heart failure) and CHF(Congestive Heart Failure).
It is also used for the synthesis of NEPA, i.e. [(S,
S)-N-(1-Ethoxycarbonyl-3-phenylpropyl) alanine ],which is a key
intermediate to produce ACE-inhibitors such as Enalapril,
Delapril, Quinapril, Ramipril etc..
