Applications of Vitasweet® Blends

As more and more consumers expect more diversified flavors of food, the requirement for the taste of sweeteners becomes much higher and stricter, which could not be satisfied by the use of any one single sweetener individually. Therefore, it makes the use of sweetener blends necessary. The use of sweetener blends has already been popular in the U.S and European countries, while in China, it has now been gradually recognized and widely accepted.  The advantages of sweetener blends are as follows:

1. Synergistic effect: When used in combination of two or more sweeteners, the total sweetness will be higher than the simple summation of the sweetness of all the individual sweeteners used, which is called synergistic effect. For example, when Acesulfame K and Aspartame are used in 1:1 combination, the synergistic effect will be more than 30%, and, when Fructose and Aspartame are used in 1:1 blendings, the synergistic effect will be as high as 83.5%. Under the same sweetness expectation, the synergistic effect will result in a smaller amount of sweeteners to be used, therefore a cost reduction for food manufacturers.

2. Improving taste profile: Sweetener blends can cover the unpleasant aftertaste from any individual sweetener, therefore improve the sweet taste profile as a whole. For example, the blends of Aspartame and Sodium saccharin can hide the bitter aftertaste of Sodium saccharin, and, the clean and quick sweet taste of Acesulfame K can offset the slow sweet taste of Aspartame, to make the blendings taste like sucrose, when they are used together.

3. Enhancing different flavors: Sweeteners can enhance different flavors which sugar can not provide. For example, Aspartame and Acesulfame K can enhance natural flavors of fruits, and, Glycyrrhizin can enhance the aromatic flavor. Furthermore, some sweeteners give quick sweet taste and some give slow sweet taste, and their distributions of sweet taste are also different. These and those characteristics of sweeteners provide more flexible choices for enhancing different flavors and  different tastes for food makers.

4.Ease of manufacture: Sweetener blends may perform higher stability and better solubility compared with any individual sweetener involved. For example, the blends of Acesulfame K and Aspartame will improve substantially the stability and solubility of Aspartame when it is used individually, thus improve the shelf life also.

5 Safety guarantee: Some sweeteners cannot achieve the expected level of sweetness under their maximum dosage when used individually. While, generally speaking, sweetener blends can result in a smaller amount of any individual sweetener used, therefore, the safety of the sweetener blends - based foods can be well guaranteed.

Vitasweet - 100: 100 tines as sweet as sucrose, a sweetener blends of Aspartame and Acesulfame K. Good taste , excellent stability, can be used individually or together with natural sweeteners such as sugar. Widely applied in alcohol, fruit alcohol, beverages, oral jelly, chewing gum, table toppings, ice cream  and cosmetics.

Vitasweet - 50I: 50 tines as sweet as sucrose, a sweetener blends of Acesulfame K,Sodium cyclamate and Glycyrrhizin. Good stability, satisfied taste profile when used individually, can also be together with sugar and fructose. Widely applied in beverages, baked goods, seasonings,  bakery food and alcohols

Vitasweet - 50II: 50 tines as sweet as sucrose, a sweetener blends of Acesulfame K and Sorbitol. Good stability and  taste profile. Suitable for use  in confectionery, fruit jelly, and, bakery food.
